Falling Off a Horse and Getting Lung Cancer

Incredibly, my life was saved by a horse named, Trinity, who threw me to the ground and broke most bones on the left side of my body. Right away, the doctors saw a large tumor in my chest, and that began a long journey of discovery and a whole new language to speak.

  1. Thanks for visiting Tablescape Times Three. It's funny how illness can inspire new endeavors. What's not in our blog (yet) is that my 12-yr-old daughter Emma has been home from school since the end of October with what turned out to be a rare anaerobic bone infection. (Resulting from a loose tooth.) We certainly thought she had leukemia or junior rheumatoid arthritis or even a rare disorder called Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis for the better part of the winter. She was finally diagnosed correctly last month. She has been home on a picc line and has two more weeks to go. The upside is that she is really into infectious diseases now, and that we have spent nearly every waking (and sleeping) minute together for the last four months. Our tablescaping blog is really the product of browsing eBay with my mom and with her on a smartphone and the sharing of things we like during all of the many, many, many hours in the hospital. If she recovers fully, it will take a very long time, even after the infection is gone. If not, one of the many positive take aways is the strengthening of a relationship at a time when mothers and daughters often begin to grow apart. God bless you through your illness, and I certainly hope that you have good takeaways even in the darkest of times. You are in our prayers.

    -Blessings,
    Andrea and Emma
